This ESV Creeds & Confessions Bible was originally a hardback with gold pages edges. It was a beautifully elegant Bible in that state. This is also an example of one of my earliest works. I wanted to experiment with deerskin as a viable cover option and turned to this naturally raw color. The forest green liner contrasted with the tanner color of the cover wonderfully. I even used a green thread for the hand-stitched edges and applied a green stain to get an art gilt effect under the gold which yielded a truly unique distinctive Bible.
Deerskin became a favorite leather of mine to work with. Its supple durability despite its coarser feel makes it a joy to hold.
