Read moreThis incredibly distinctive leather is really something to see. It is a lighter beige, but the grain is deep and darkened through its tanning process, giving it a one-of-a-kind look. The leather will soften as it is handled over time. Truly one of the favorites.
I picked up this very large, 12″ x 8″ KJV on eBay some years ago. There was no date, but it seemed to be from around the 1950’s, perhaps 1960. I was gifted a small deerskin called distressed antique, and it was aptly named. The grain was worked over and it was rough, but not cracking or flaking or anything that would undermine its purpose as a cover. But I only had enough for one. This ESV Creeds & Confessions Bible was originally a hardback with gold pages edges. It was a beautifully elegant Bible in that state. This is also an example of one of my earliest works.
